Residual feeds processing in FCC units require the catalyst system adaptation to overcome possible diffusion limitations and secure the refiner profitability. The FCC UPGRADER premium catalysts family for residues was specifically designed for feeds that are heavy and mass transfer-limited. Its unpaired accessibility enables a significantly higher diffusion of high-molecular weight molecules towards the interior of the catalyst particle. The improved matrix performance and higher zeolite contribution for cracking favor superior residue processing. 

The UPGRADER R+ catalyst benefits from the same UPGRADER technology, but is optimized for units requiring still more coke selectivity through adjustments in its metals resistance.
