Iron contamination has historically been one of the major challenges facing FCC plants. Fe accelerates the deactivation of the catalyst, favors vitrification and covers the particle’s pores, hindering the diffusion of larger molecules and compromising the conversion of funds. These effects have a direct impact on the selectivity and profitability of the operation, as well as causing fluidization problems in extreme cases.
SaFeGuard™ was developed to overcome these challenges, offering a unique catalytic formulation that maintains high diffusivity and accessibility even under severe conditions of iron, calcium, sodium and silicon contamination. This technology guarantees better conversion of funds, preserves selectivity and increases the refiner's profitability margin, reducing the need to increase the catalyst addition rate or resort to palliative dilution solutions.
Validated in the laboratory and in commercial units, SaFeGuard™ has demonstrated superior performance compared to reference technologies, with greater accessibility retention, less coke and slurry formation, and significant gains in gasoline and LPG.
