About the KOC 15 additive
The KOC 15 additive is a Platinum-containing combustion promoter with a commercially proven long performance history, being a reliable, economical and flexible solution for solving post-combustion problems and excess carbon monoxide (CO) emissions in FCC units.
During the carbon combustion to CO2, CO is formed as an intermediate. In case CO escapes the dense phase, it continues to react with the oxygen available in the dilute phase, where little or no catalyst is present to absorb the generated heat, leading to high temperatures in these areas, with possible metallurgical damage. KOC 15 reduces this risk by increasing the CO to CO2 conversion rate in the dense phase.
FCC S.A. and Albemarle assayed this additive against five commercially available competitors’ combustion promoters. The results indicate that KOC 15 promotes higher CO to CO2 conversion by platinum unit in the additive and its afterburn reduction performance is clearly superior to those of competitors’ additives.
